Full Moon in Libra
on 2 April 2026

The Full Moon rests in the House of Libra in April. The zodiac sign of Libra is symbolised by scales which is linked to the Roman Goddess of justice, Justitia; and ruled by Venus the Roman Goddess of love. The Zodiac sign of Libra strives to create balance, justice, harmony, aesthetically appealing objects, romance, and diplomacy. The Libran scales act as a metaphor for people to: carefully weigh decisions, maintain equilibrium in life, and take time-out to "smell the roses". Gardens - particularly flower gardens - are associated with the Libran sign. This Full Moon is a perfect time to plan your Springtime garden. It is a great time for planting bulbs, tubers, flowers, and flowering herbs - all the blooms that will be on display in September. It is also favourable time to fertilize plants and combat pests with natural sprays. Remember, it is all about balance - and making your garden both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Waning moon moving through

Sagittarius and Capricorn

during 6 to 10 April 2026

The waning moon is an opportune time to destroy vigorous weeds, remove invasive plants, and hinder unwanted grass growth. It is also a good time for harvesting and collecting fruit and root vegetables. Use this time during waning moon to prepare garden beds with healthy soil, good manure, and rich compost for the upcoming busy gardening months of Autumn.

New Moon in Aries
17 April 2026

The April New Moon in mighty Aries means only one thing...it's all systems GO!!

The crisp Autumn air heralds the most favorable time for sowing and planting those Winter crops - particularly leafy vegetables, brassicas, and root crops such as beetroots. Now is a good time to check on your fruit trees and ensure that any budding fruit is safe from the pending cooler weather and ravenous Australian wildlife (...I'm looking at you, Brush-tail Possums). The New Moon's energy is also a great time to unleash you inner 'Master Chef' and dominate your kitchen. Showcase your culinary skills by using various methods to preserve fruits and vegetables for long-term storage during the cooler months ahead. Try the following: dehydrating, fruit leathers, fermenting, pickling, jam-making, sauces and relishes, freeze-dried powders, and making spice mixes. Now is a great time to experiment with flavours and recipes, while sharing your home-grown produce with friends and family.

Waxing moon
in Leo and Virgo
24 to 28 April 2026

The leadership qualities of Leo coupled with the diligent nature of Virgo will provide the necessary energy for performing most gardening-related work, propagation tasks, bulb planting, greenhouse activities, and the general maintenance of the household garden. This work now will set the foundation of the successful outcome of the garden throughout the Winter months, and a wonderful public display in Springtime. The hard, short-term work during this time will yield long-term success for your garden.
