Stella Hacienda’s ‘Urban Homesteading Design Consultancy’ can help you turn your gardening dreams into reality and achieve your urban homestead bliss. Cheryl Garson, the business owner of StelIa Hacienda, has the knowledge, experience and relevant qualifications to design all the other parts of your landscape as well. On smaller properties that might include pathway networks, composting systems, propagation stations, irrigation layouts, and sheltering/feeding needs for small production animals (ie. chickens, quails, bees). On larger properties it might include the hiring of contractors to perform earthworks to manage stormwater, dams, food forests, livestock systems, bush regeneration and sustainable house design. Stella Hacienda will ensure the whole system works together.

The urban homesteading designs by Stella Hacienda are based around permaculture principles and have a focus on regenerating and connecting with the land, rather than attempting to master and diminish natural resources. Each design layout will be specific and appropriate to your specific situation, health concerns, and living circumstances. Gardens are great, but they are often only part of the bigger picture. Most importantly, it needs to work for you.

Stella Hacienda offers two levels of service:

(1) Budget Package > a consultation only service; and

(2) Standard Package > a concept design service.

The Stella Hacienda’s Urban Homesteading Design services can be tailored to suit small backyards, sprawling acreages, schools, community gardens, commercial premises, tiny apartments, and anything in between. BUDGET - URBAN HOMESTEADING CONSULTATION PACKAGE:   =   $250.00

• One (1) on-site consultation visit for up to 4 hours to assess the specific requirements of you, your family, your pets and or production animals, and your urban site

• Site analysis

• Chance to ask as many questions as you wish

• Verbal feedback on how you can make the most of your space based on real local experience

• A follow up email which includes a permaculture report containing recommendations for the placement of elements and plants, summarising the ideas discussed, and providing some handy information, tips and ideas

 

NOTE: this consultation only package is recommended if you just like some initial direction about urban homestead site planning, but are happy to do the research and design yourself. (Extra travel costs may apply outside the greater Toowoomba area.)

STANDARD - URBAN HOMESTEADING CONSULTATION PACKAGE:

   - from $800 for a smaller backyard to $1200+ for larger rural properties

• Up to three (3) site visits to assess site and present final plans

• Concept design (A1 size print and pdf) > this includes placement of major elements on the site and suggestions of plants AND placement of all plantings across the site.

• Sector analysis

• Site analysis

• Information and tips on living more sustainably

• Permaculture report containing recommendations for the placement of elements and plants, as well as tips and ideas

• Project schedule

• Ongoing support via email or phone so you can ask questions as your design evolves and takes shape

• Follow up visit in 12 months to reassess the site, design, and tweak the system where necessary and address any issues

 

NOTE: The Standard Design Package is recommended if you'd like most of the planning done for you by a professional but are happy to carry out the finer details yourself. A Standard Design Package generally takes 3-4 weeks to prepare after the initial consultation has taken place. (The cost of this package is dependent on the size of the site and complexity of the design. Stella Hacienda can give you an exact cost once you provide some basic information as to what changes/transformation will be involved).
